A beautiful hand painted Italian dinner plate in the 'Zafiro' design.  This design features a design of  foliage and fruit on a black background..   This black background is a unique design from the small Umbrian town of Deruta.

The dinner plate measures 250mm in diameter and on the back of the plate the artist who painted it has enscribed by hand <MOD> which stands for 'Majolica of Deruta' (the name of the manufacturer) and then 'Deruta Italy' where the plates are made and the 'Dip. a Mano' which is short hand for 'Dipinto a mano' which translates as 'Painted by Hand'.
